A year in the data warehouse appliance space

Well what a year for the data warehouse appliance sector. New product offerings, bundles or initiatives from the big boys - HP, IBM and Oracle; new entrants in the space bringing different twists on appliance bundles and targeting specific segments or niche areas of the market in the form of Illuminate, Vertica, ParAccel. Finally, the Initial Public Offering of Netezza and the spin out of Teradata from NCR.

It has been an exciting year...the growth in the business intelligence and data analytics market, driven by the insatiable thirst for new business insight by companies both large and small has made for a very exciting year. We have seen enormous change in both our business, our partner ecosystem and the environment around us. I am pleased to report, as one of the founding companies in the DW appliance space we have finished the year with good revenue growth and a set of well qualified customers that are using our technology in very interesting ways to solve their large scale data analytic challenges. We are delighted and honoured to have formed strategic initiatives with partners such as Dell, Bull, EMC, Cisco, MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Informatica and technology agreements with a number of DW specific Service Provides and open source ETL vendors.

How will this be topped in 2008? This time of the year is usually one where we make predictions on the year ahead. So I would be interested to hear you views/thoughts on what you think may occur in this space over the next 12 months?
